I'm stuck.
Wow. That sentence was so--you know what, I'm not particularly in the mood for sarcasm today.
Let's just stick to the facts, shall we?
So I think I've said this before, but I'll just say it again: I've been seeing other "blog owners" being very organized--whether it's themed blog posts or awesome blog design or whatnot--and I just feel sort of down because I'm really disorganized with my blog. ("Organized" and "disorganized" aren't really the words I'm looking for, but they'll have to do for now.)
My blog posts are either enormous pity parties or just pointless randomness, and I want to write about stuff more meaningful--you know, stuff people actually care about--but I can't think of anything. I want to write about stuff I have real interest in, while still keeping the attention of my readers (a.k.a. you), but I don't think anyone really wants to hear about the stuff I'm interested in. Here's a brief list of the things at the top of my priorities (as of late):

Here's a brief list of the things at the top of my priorities (as of late):
- sleeping
- eating
- watching Netflix (more specifically, Frasier)
- Mockingjay
- apps on my Kindle/cell phone
Interesting and intriguing, right? Yeah. Which is why so many of my blog posts seem pointless. Well, not seem pointless--they are pointless.
Also, I want to have my own writing style. Like...ugh, how do I put this? Like, I see some people use a lot of gifs and "modern terms" in their blog posts, and other people stick to more formal wording, and...I don't know, I want to have my own tone and habits and stuff with my writing, too. A tone that doesn't include my current cynical, sarcastic remarks and dark outlook on pretty much everything. I want people to smile and feel good when they visit my blog. But I...I don't know. I don't know how to sound happy and cheerful without sounding fake and sarcastic. I wish I could send a virtual shrug right now, because that would pretty much show my exact thoughts on what to do about this.
Anyway. It's bad enough that my content (which is the most important of a blog) sort of stinks. But my blog design is just...well, honestly, I don't really have an adjective for it. It's, um, different than it was before. But it's all over the place and looks absolutely nothing like I want it to. And, as I've said over a thousand times (trust me, I've counted), I have the lowest patience level ever when it comes to editing html and trying new stuff with coding and all that stuff. So I guess I'm just stuck with this personally unsatisfactory blog design.
(I do think the little "about me" thing on the side is cool, and my new-ish, different-ish color scheme. What I really want is for my blogger header to look normal and different, and to have the tabs for my additional pages look different as well.)
So...yeah. That's the predicament I'm in: a need to change my writing habits and a need to change my blog design. And both of these needs continue to go unsatisfied. And I don't know what to do. Like, at all.
(Wow. The title made it sound like this post would be cheery, uplifting, and have an actual point. Talk about misleading. :/)

What's Frasier?
ReplyDeleteUm...a show on Netflix. Hahaha, just kidding. ;) It's a spin-off from an old show called Cheers...most people (especially my age) think both shows are really boring...I have a weird sense of humor. :P
DeleteAnyway, I can't really explain the show very well...you could look it up on Wikipedia if you'd like. And, if you have Netflix, you could watch an episode and get a feel for the show. There's also some episodes on YouTube too. :)
(Wow, look at me, gently forcing you to watch my show. xD)
I know I have said this before to you but this time I mean it, do you want me to design your blog and stuff? Buttons, about me, proper pages, etc? Shoot me an email if you do.
ReplyDeleteI personally wouldn't worry about the writing style. Back then, I always write in this friendly cheerful tone all the time, but the more I write, the more confident I get and the more my writing style matches the way I talk in real life. So, it's just a matter of writing more :). As for the content, just write anything you want I guess. Even the stuff you think are mundane can be of interest to another person because you both live different lives! The blog is a reflection of you, so be yourself! You are more interesting than you think. It's the case with a lot of people, I think.
ReplyDeleteJust checked out your blog, by the way. I blog over at www.thestarryeyeddreamer.blogspot.com and you can see that I don't use any coding for my blog design. Computer has always been a slightly difficult lesson :/.
Thanks! ^^ What you said really helps and I think you're right :) Also, I checked out your blog and I like it! :)
